                Background:

ASFPM and the Certification Board of Regents (CBOR) are currently assessing the National CFM® Exam and program in order to ensure accurate and consistent measurement of knowledge and best practice in the field of Floodplain Management.

The first step in this process will be to complete a practice analysis of the field which will involve a group of 10 to 12 CFMs that represent a full range of Floodplain Managers.  These 10 to 12 CFMs will be selected from nominees submitted to ASFPM.  Participation in the group is voluntary. Expenses will be paid by ASFPM.  Nominated CFMs should have sufficient experience in the floodplain management field for proper participation in this effort.

Scholarship to the 2009 ASFPM Conference

As a benefit to our members the Maryland Association of Floodplain and Stormwater Managers will sponsor up to two members to attend the ASFPM Green Works to Reduce Flood Losses Conference in Orlando, FL, June 7-12, 2009.   This sponsorship will provide registration costs for the conference. It will not cover travel, meals or other incidental costs.

The 2009 sponsorship was awarded to Sudhanshu Mishra of G&O.  He will represent MAFSM at the ASFPM Chapter meeting and will report back to the Board at the August meeting.
